5 Writing Tips from Jackie Collins

jackie-collins-best-sellerHave you got an idea and want to write a great story or a book? Well, you should learn from the best.

Jackie Collins is what you call a commercially successful writer. She has written 30 highly-successful novels. So, from my research I have collected some of her best writing tips:

  1. Start writing – a lot of people talk about it but not many people actually do it so just get a pen and notebook or sit on your computer and just write. Jackie writes on her notepads and then gives notes to her assistant who then types all those notes on PC and gives it back to Jackie to read again and make any adjustments.
  2. Create great characters – create characters that people will love to read about. Or characters that you will love yourself. Jackie has written so many books about Lucky Santangelo – a strong, sexy and successful kick-ass woman that people can’t stop reading about.
  3. Write about what you know – don’t write about Hollywood if you have never been there.
  4. Inspirations – Jackie gets her ideas and inspirations from newspapers, TV, and real life celebrities which she meets at the parties etc.
  5. Passion for writing – Jackie says she wakes up everyday and thinks about what her characters will do next. She writes everyday. She says she has a passion and she is not planning to retire.

When you start writing, it may not look as a best-seller but don’t give up and continue writing. Embrace you talent and and YOU CAN ACHIEVE EVERYTHING WITH HARD WORK.

Have a good time writing your best-seller book!

5 Steps To Start Climbing The Property Ladder

Owning a house in the UK is pretty big deal: while property market continues to  boom, and house prices are sky-high, here are few steps to take towards owning your own house:

1. Income – to be considered for a mortgage application, you will have to disclose your income. You need to earn money in order to keep up with your mortgage payments. Permanent Employment is an ideal employment status but other options are also considered.

2. Reduce Expenses – your income is important when applying for a mortgage but if your expenses are high, mortgage company won’t take you as a serious applicant. For example, if your monthly income are £1000 but you spend £900, that means that you only have £100 left every month. Also, reduced expenses mean you can save more money each month.

TIP: Thoroughly check your bank statement: find ways to reduce expenses by cancelling unwanted subscriptions, memberships, shop only for what you really need etc.

3. Save – Deposit: you will need minimum 5% deposit to secure a mortgage. Saving is a DISCIPLINE so train it like a muscle: start with small amounts, learn to reject unnecessary shopping splurges.

4. Take a good care of your Credit Scoreyour credit score is a Key that opens doors: your credit score is a radius to banks and lenders on how financially reliable you are.

TIP: I have recently ordered my credit score report from EXPERIAN for only £2. It was eye-opening as you can see what your house lender will see.

Settled accounts are kept on file for six years from the settlement date. The status history in respect of a settled account relates to the period of time prior to the date of settlement.

5. Follow the Property Market Newskeep yourself with up-to-date property market news: are prices going up or down?

Useful websites:

http://www.zoopla.co.uk – as well as searching fir the properties to buy, you can also check current value for the properties.

http://www.rightmove.co.uk – search to buy properties.

http://www.sharetobuy.com – search for shared ownership properties.

http://www.thisismoney.co.uk – all the latest updates in property market, as well as latest news on mortgages and lending.

Thanks for reading it. I hope you found it useful.

The reason why I wanted to share this recipe is for you to see how easy is to make a cheesecake: I broke down steps of the baking process in the most time-consuming way possible.

As you can see, the ingredients are very basic and easy to be bought in any supermarket.

I made this cheesecake so many times – I tried different variation and after many tests I found this particular recipe to be the best one. Other thought so too.

This was always a winner at my work charity Cake Sales. Have fun!

  • 80g butter melted
  • 200g digestive biscuits

  • 900g of soft cheese
  • 200g caster sugar
  • 3 tbsp plain flour
  • 1½ tsp vanilla extract
  • finely grated zest of ½ lemon
  • 3 large eggs
  • 200g of blueberries

  1. Crush biscuits for the base: I add biscuits in a big bowl and using a heavy glass and I crush biscuits to crumbles.
  2. I melt butter in the bowl in microwave for 1min.
  3. I mix butter and biscuits.
  4. Lay baking paper in the baking dish.
  5. Move biscuits mix into the baking dish and even all to one level with the glass.
  6. Pre-heat oven on a medium heat 180 degrees.
  7. Add soft cheese, sugar, flour, vanilla extract, grated zest of lemon and eggs into a bowl and using hand-mixer beat all ingredients until mix is smooth and lump-free.
  8. Add blueberries – these cannot be beaten with hand-mixer but it will melt/turn into a gem during baking process.
  9. Add cheesecake filling mix on a top of the biscuit base.
  10. Bake cheesecake for 45-50min. I check cheesecake after 35min and then 10-15min afterwards. I use toothpick to check if cheesecake is done – simply stick toothpick in filling and see if it comes out clean (that means it is done) if not, bake it for a bit longer.
  11. Once it has been done, leave it to cool it down. TIP – for a quick cool-down you can leave cooled down cheesecake in the freezer for 20-30min.

I hope your tummy will enjoy it.

Capucine – A Woman of ‘The Pink Panther’

Capucine was a French a high fashion  model and a successful actress.

Her beauty and effortless elegance was  unforgettable.

I know her from the first ever movie of ‘The Pink Panther’ – she played a wife of inspector Jacques Clouseau. My favourite scene from ‘The Pink Panther’ movie is where she is chased by police, runs into the lift and completely changes her appearance and once out of the lift, police did not recognise her.

This woman knew ‘fashion’.

I thought she was so entertaining and strikingly beautiful. She gave an image of hard working independent woman with healthy ambition.

Despite all her success, her life has ended in a tragedy.

Here are few facts about this truly fascinating woman:

• Real name – Germaine Hélène Irène Lefebvre, (6 January 1928 – 17 March 042-capucine-theredlist1990)
• Before become movie star, she worked as a model working for fashion houses like Givenchy and Christian Dior.
• She was the only actress to act in more than one of ‘The Pink Panther’ franchise movies. She starred in 3 ‘Pink Panther’ movies: The Pink Panther’ – 1963; ‘Trail of the Pink Panther’ – 1982; and ‘Curse of the Pink Panther’ – 1983.
• She played a wife of inspector Jacques Clouseau.
• She was a close friend with Audrey Hepburn.
• The only she married was to actor Pierre Trabaud. Their marriage lasted 8 months only. She has never remarried again.
• She lived in Switcherland for 28 years until her death in 1990.
• On 17 March 1990, at the age of 62, Capucine jumped to her death from her eighth-floor apartment. It was reported that she has suffered from illness and depression for some time.
• She appeared in 36 films and 17 television productions.

Sisal-rug-idea  Styling-Contemporary-Living-RoomHave you been thinking how you can positivity  impact our environment? You probably have heard how eco-friendly home can have a great impact our health, improves indoor air, and sets the right example for our future generations. It is a fact, that we spend most of our home time  in the living room. And that is the first place in your house you should make more eco-friendly. eco-friendly-home-accessories-paladium-light-bulb-recycled-e1416859314507-740x510

Here are 6 ways to make it happen:

  1. WALLS – for cleaner indoor air, use plaster for your walls made from clay and natural pigments – these will produce negative ions that repel dust and pollen.
  2. PAINT – chose a paint that contained zero VOCs (volatile organic compounds): chemicals that give paint an odor and can contribute to poor indoor air quality.
  3. FLOOR – Wool carpet it is an easy option to make your living room more eco-friendly. As Stunning-Jute-Rug-decorating-ideas-for-Delightful-Living-Room-Traditional-design-ideas-with-blue-couch-brushed-brushed-and-oiled-oak-bungalows-cabin-designer-colors-Europeanwool is a natural resource, it is very durable and can last centuries. Or choose wooden floor ideally sourced locally, or made from reclaimed wood – to lower transportation costs and a lighter carbon footprint than more exotic rainforest woods.
  4. FURNITURE – furniture is low toxicity: furniture that is untreated or treated with natural substances, like natural wood finishes, or naturally tanned leather. Organic cotton is also less likely to be treated with toxic stuff. Another great way to dodge toxic chemicals is to buy furniture that is vintage or second-hand and has already done most of its offgassing.
  5. ACCESSORIES – choose accessories made from organic fabrics.
  6. LIGHTNING – firstly, make the most of daylight by keeping blinds open. Secondly, choose Energy Efficient Bulbs. And Thirdly, Choose lamps made with natural, recycled, or reused materials. Use motion sensors and dimmers to give you just the right amount of light.

As you can see, eco-friendly house is mostly beneficial to our health and it does not have to cost a fortune.

Heavenly Tasty Buttercream Frosting Recipe

IMG_20150302_181728 (2) Have you been dreaming to make heavenly-tasting pretty cupcakes? Did you have much luck with it?
Well, the secret to these amazing cupcakes I keep referring to, is a frosting. Not a base but frosting. It is because to make a base is a pretty much basic baking job: mix this and that, put in the oven, 15-20min later and cupcakes base is ready.
There is so much more work and skill that needs to go into making beautiful frosting crowns for the cupcakes.

Why cupcakes? Well, we just love these tiny cakes with pretty crowns that make our jaws drop.

I don’t like word ‘complicated’. So, when I struggled with all this technicality of making perfect buttercream frosting for my cupcakes, I tried to simplify and make easy-to-follow steps to reach your dream to becoming Cupcakes Queen.

You need 3 simple ingredients:

• 140g butter
• 280g icing sugar
• 5-7 tablespoon milk

1. Add butter and icing sugar in the bowl.
2. Add 2-3 tablespoons of milk and start beating mixture with the hand-mixer.
3. Add extra few spoons of milk and continue beating the mixture until smooth and creamy.
4. Keep an eye on the mixture and add a bit extra milk if needed but do not over-do it.
5. Cut the end of piping bag and add chosen piping nozzle
6. Get a tall glass/small vase/or tall mug to put your bag in.
7. Fill bag with the frosting mixture
8. Start piping frosting on your cupcakes.

Now – was it this as hard as you thought? I would love to hear from you.
